McAfee Establishes Subsidiary in China Security software provider McAfee has announced plans to establish a new wholly-owned subsidiary in China, as part of its investment in China and the Chinese market.
Skip related content The company plans to open a new call center in Beijing in February 2010 to service the mid-market segment, particularly in smaller cities across China. Its plan also includes an additional headcount in functions including sales, sales engineering, marketing, support and research and development (R D), including a planned doubling of the field sales organization in 2010.
The company recently formed reseller partnerships with Neusoft and China National Software and Services in China. It also partnered with Lenovo to market McAfee VirusScan products through Lenovo retail outlets across China. Additionally, it has formed an alliance with Dell to offer Chinese consumers 15 month subscriptions on all their retail and direct systems with Microsoft Windows preinstalled. McAfee plans to expand its partnerships with some of Chinas major companies including CS S, Dell, Digital China, ECS, Lenovo, Shanghai SI and Suntek. Dave DeWalt, president and chief executive at McAfee, said: China offers compelling opportunities for McAfee. McAfee has continuously strengthened its presence in China over the last decade and we are planning to expand our investment in the near term to take full advantage of the opportunities China presents.
We also recently signed an agreement in which China Unicom will market our security products to their mobile phone customers in China. In addition, China Telecom in Guangdong has also agreed to partner with McAfee to market McAfee products to their broadband users. In October, McAfee reported a 25% decline in net income to 36.8m for the third quarter 2009, compared to 48.8m in the same quarter last year. Revenue increased 18% to 485.3m.
